A car has crashed into the front window of a Liverpool city centre shop on Hanover street this afternoon just yards away from Central station during the lunch time rush hour.

Shocked onlookers witnessed the damage left behind by the crash with parts of the car spread out across the accident area and the store front window being destroyed.

The crash which happened around 12:30 left the car without its doors or roof.

It is not yet known if Merseyside ambulance attended the accident or if the driver of the car fled the scene.

A passer-by took the photographs and posted them on Facebook with the heading “So this has just happened by Central station”

Is It A Sign? – Millets shop windows displaying posters with the words “Wipe Out”

A police officer can be seen assessing the damage to the car and outdoor equipment store Millets as a crowd gathers.

Members of the public were kept at a safe distance from the vehicle.

It is not yet known if anyone suffered any injuries during the crash.
